Background

Rosenstein is an Emmy Award-winning documentary producer, director, writer and editor whose work has been seen nationally on the PBS series, "P.O.V." and "Independent Lens," as well as the ABC World News Tonight, ESPN, the Nickelodeon Channel and the Independent Film Channel. His documentary feature, "The Amasong Chorus: Singing Out" (2004), won a Documentary Award of Excellence from the Broadcast Education Association and a Director's Citation from the Black Maria Film Festival, and screened at film festivals worldwide. The program aired nationally on the PBS series, "Independent Lens," in June 2004, to an eventual audience of more than 1 million viewers based on Nielsen ratings. Rosenstein’s previous work includes "Erased" (2001), which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and won awards from the Black Maria Film Festival and the Ann Arbor Film Festival, and "In Whose Honor? American Indian Mascots in Sports" (1997), which aired nationally on the PBS series, "P.O.V.," was nominated for a Peabody Award and was recognized by the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism as one of the most outstanding programs on race in American television in 1997-98. Rosenstein has won awards from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, American Women in Radio and Television, the American Indian Film Institute, the Illinois Arts Council, and the National Federation of Community Broadcasters, among others, and has received grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Paul Robeson Fund for Independent Media, the Independent Television Service, and the Illinois Arts Council.
