Admissions and financial assistance
The Department of Advertising typically admits between 15 and 25 students each Fall for an M.S. graduate degree in Advertising. These students come from a variety of undergraduate degree programs and from places all over the world.
At this time, the Department is able to offer a tuition waiver and a small stipend for a limited number of students who are typically assigned teaching assistant responsibilities.
Admission to graduate study in Advertising requires completion of the requirements for a bachelor's degree in an accredited institution of recognized standing, along with the following requirements:
- The required method of applying is online through the Graduate College Web site. (NOTE: Use the "Create Account" box the first time you visit the application page.) Graduate College admissions
- Completed applications are due January 15.
- Applications are accepted for fall admission only.
- GRE or GMAT exam scores are required for all students. Scores should be sent from the testing center to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. This is done electronically using institution code number 1836 and program office code 00.
- The Department of Advertising requires non-native English-speaking applicants to show evidence of English proficiency, which is provided by a satisfactory score on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).
Minimum scores for TOEFL (international students only):
253 (CBT), 102 (IBT), 610 (PBT) and IELTS greater than 6.5. - Transcripts from all universities that you have attended should be sent to the Department of Advertising.
- Three letters of recommendation are required.
- A Statement of Purpose is required.
